The Winchester Clark County Chamber of Commerce awarded our very young nonprofit with Nonprofit of the Year for 2023, a huge honor for us and evidence that what we do with your help matters!

WE ARE FRIENDS OF PARKS AND RECREATION!

Friends of Parks and Recreation's mission is to support the Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation in Winchester, Kentucky through fundraising efforts in order to provide every citizen the opportunity for optimal recreation and leisure activities and to provide programs that enhance the health, wellness, and overall quality of life.

ABOUT

Friends of Parks and Recreation as a newly formed 501(c)(3) commits to furthering the programs and goals of Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation, especially when it comes to youth and children's programming. Friends of Parks immediately got to work using our community’s valued donations for this goal and we haven’t stopped since- we are not the "sit on your money" type! We are committed to the fact that healthy, happy children build healthy, happy communities.

Swim at the Gym Splash Class

Keeping Swim Safe

In partnership with Clark County Public Schools, Clark County Preschool children receive FREE swim lessons from WCCPR's Red Cross WSI (Water Safety Instructor) Instructors.

From park pop-ups to roller skating to hot chocolate in the winter, WCCPR offers families opportunities to enjoy free or inexpensive time together in our green spaces and beyond! Support from Friends of Parks keeps it possible!

Scholarships

Keeping Childcare Affordable

WCCPR's full-day, full-week summer camp acts as childcare for working families and families who need childcare during the summer. Friends ensures this camp continues to stay affordable for these campers and their families in the face of rising costs.

Friends of Parks is full of board members whose hearts are in their community. Employees of WCCPR, patrons, and beloved community members help to encourage connection to our nonprofit unlike any other.

Our nonprofit has earned a Gold Seal of Transparency for 2022! Being able to trust where your money goes when donating is a big deal that we take seriously!
